Computer Teknology Institute has
developed a 6 month program to prepare individuals to
enter the information technology field and become
Certified Computer Support Professionals. Through a
blended learning model of valuable hands on labs and
classroom studies, our students are able to develop the
applied and critical troubleshooting skills necessary in
the computer technology field.
Courses In the PC Tek Program
PC Tek1
- PC Tek Essential
This fundamental course prepares the student for the A+
Essentials Certification and also to demonstrate the
technician’s ability to provide
PC support and a general
understanding of how PCs operate. The course covers
basic
hardware components, laptop support, operating system
concepts, printers and scanners, basic network setup,
basic computer and network security concepts,
environmental issues and proper communication and
professionalism.
This course prepares the student for an A+ Elective exam
and covers topics to include OS fundamentals, Installing
and troubleshooting common computer components, features
and functions of major OS system files, Command Prompt
commands, installing, configuring, upgrading,
diagnosing, and troubleshooting Windows Operating
Systems as well as soft skills.
Upon successfully completing this course each student
will build and take home their own computer for
continuing their education.
This course prepares the student for the Network+ exam
and
to be able to describe the features and functions of
networking components and to install, configure and
troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and
services.
Upon successfully completing this course each student
will configure and take home their own router and switch
for continuing their education at home.
This course prepares the student for the Security+ exam
and provides the student with a fundamental
understanding of network security principles and
implementation. The student will learn about the
technologies used and principles involved in creating a
secure computer networking environment.
